6. Lehigh Valley Steelhawks
Chock up another loss for the winless Steelhawks. They fell to the Carolina Cobras Saturday night, 58-38. They sit at 0-7 on the season. Their schedule doesn’t get any easier, either.
5. Maine Mammoths
Like Lehigh Valley, it doesn’t get much easier for them. Quarterback Jonathon Bane also went down in their loss to the Pirates. Should he miss time, that may bring the Mammoths closer to extinction.
4. Jacksonville Sharks
Jacksonville may have won five consecutive games and have defeated two of the top teams the last two weeks, but the beginning of their season tells another story.
That 1-3 start by the Sharks still haunts them on this list, which is based off of how a team has done throughout their season. A win next week in Carolina would mean so much to the Sharks, both on our list and their playoff picture.
3. Massachusetts Pirates
Despite their loss last week to the Sharks, Massachusetts still is a hot team. Sean Brackett is continuing to make his turnaround from 2017 and the defense continues to dominate opponents.
2. Columbus Lions
The Lions lost a close in Jacksonville, but team that they have could beat anything that stands in their way. Mason Espinosa is on fire, finishing what he started in 2017, and he has great chemistry with his receivers. They also have Quayvon Hicks, who’s gotten off to a hot start with the Lions.
1. Carolina Cobras
Carolina continues to show the league that they’re the best team in the league. Charles McCullum proved once again that he is the front-runner for MVP and the Cobras are atop the league standings and our power rankings list.
