Jim Jones Joins Richmond Roughriders Ownership Group

The Richmond Roughriders announced yesterday that hip-hop icon Jim Jones will be joining ownership along side Greg Fornario and Mike Kacor.

Jones is a hip hop recording artist. He is also member of the well known “Diplomats” a.k.a “Dipset” as well as the the Co-CEO of Diplomats Records, along lside long-time friend and well known Hip-Hop artist Cam’ron. Jones also is currently signed to JAY-Z company ROC-NATION.

In 2006, Jim Jones drop a smash hit from his third studio album Hustler’s P.O.M.E. “We Fly High”. That song was the leading record for that album. It did tremendous success charting #5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2009, he was nominated for Best Collaboration at the Urban Music Awards for his song ” Pop Champagne” ft. Ron Browz & Juelz Santana.

Jones was born in the Bronx, but was mostly raised in Harlem. He was brought up mainly by his grandmother. He tells a lot about growing up with fellow rapper Freekey Zekey in Jim Jones own ” The Come Up DVD”. It tells a lot about his life, and different journeys he went threw.

Jones has also been in many well-known movies as well, such as the true classic film “State Property 2” with Damon Dash, N.O.R.E. & Beanie Sigel. Another artist who also was in that film was another Hip-Hop icon Kanye West. He also appeared on “Wild’ N Out” with Nick Cannon and VH1 television show “Love & Hip Hop New York”.

He also had is own tv show with his fiancée Chrissy Lampkin called ” Chrissy & Mr. Jones”. Jones is also a noted music video director under the pseudonym CAPO, having directed videos for artists including Cam’ron, Juelz Santana, & Remy Ma.

Jones brings his popularity drawing in more inspired youth to the games. He also reaches a more urban audience. This can be good for advertising dealing with Richmond Virginia local Hip-hop and R&B Radio Stations like iPower 92.1 jamz and 105.7 Kiss FM.

This also brings more attention to the Arena Football Game in RVA. He also is no stranger to the Richmond Roughriders fan base. Jones performed last season in the half time show for the Arena Pro League Championship Game. Richmond  defeated the Florida Tarpons 71-61 to become the lone APF Champions.

Bringing Jones on as an owner also brings excitement to the game, knowing that fans will have a chance to take pictures and sit along side a Hip Hop Icon as Richmond looks to have another successful Arena Football season.
