The Albany-based Arena Football League team has named Les Moss as their assistant coach. Moss was the head coach of the Jacksonville Sharks from 2010-2016.
Over his career, he has won four ArenaBowl titles, his latest coming with the Sharks in 2011. In 2010, he earned the AFL Coach of the Year award.
“The type of experience that Coach Moss brings to the team is invaluable,” Albany head coach Rob Keefe said on his new assistant. “Nobody has more experience coaching in this league than Les, and has been a proven winner at every stop. I’m thrilled to have him in Albany as we continue to put together a championship caliber staff.”
“I am excited about the opportunity in Albany,” Moss said. “As the defensive coordinator for the Orlando Predators in 1999, I witnessed first-hand how passionate the Albany AFL fanbase was at ArenaBowl XIII. I am thrilled to be on their side this season!”
Albany was named the league’s sixth team on Oct. 24. They also have other former coaches on their staff, including Rob Keefe and Chris Thompson, who will serve as the offensive coordinator and Director of Football Operations for the team.
They have yet to pick a name for the team, but they have announced they will host open tryouts in January. Albany will play home games at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY.
