The Chicago Rush and Orlando Predators met in ArenaBowl XX. The game was played at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV. Orlando was in their first ArenaBowl since they defeated the Nashville Kats in ArenaBowl XIV six years ago. Chicago was playing in their first ever title game.
Chicago got off to a domainting start, as they held a 10-0 lead after one quarter of play. Orlando was down, but most certainly not out. Two touchdown passes from quarterback Joe Hamilton to wide receiver Javarus Dudley in the first four minutes of the second quarter had Orlando a 14-10 lead.
The teams combined for 28 points in the next eight minutes. Chicago scored 10 points in the final six seconds to take a 34-28 halftime lead.
With the first two touchdowns in the third quarter, including a pick-six from linebacker Dennison Robinson, the Rush extended their lead to 48-28. A 45 yard touchdown pass from Hamilton to Dudley closed the gap to 48-34 at the end of three.
In the fourth quarter, a 31 yard touchdown from quarterback Matt D’Orazio to wide receiver Bobby Sippio was the icing on the cake for Chicago. They held a 55-34 lead at that point. Orlando would score to answer Chicago’s scores, but it was too little too late.
The Rush would go on to win ArenaBowl XX by a final score of 69-61. D’Orazio (250 passing yards, six touchdowns) was named Offensive Player of the Game. Robinson was named the Defensive Player of the Game with his pick-six, plus two catches for 21 yards, two passes defended and a forced fumble.
