Arena Football League Philadelphia Soul

Philadelphia Soul Will Win ArenaBowl XXX Because…

The Philadelphia Soul will host the Tampa Bay Storm in ArenaBowl XXX at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia this Saturday, Aug. 26. Philadelphia is looking to become the first repeat champion since the Arizona Rattlers won three consecutive ArenaBowls from 2012-2014.

Tampa Bay shows that they could be a challenge to the Soul. They have been the most improved team all season. After a 2-15 season in 2016, the Storm have cleaned house, hiring a new head coach in Ron James and signing all new players.

Quarterback Randy Hippeard returns to Tampa after playing with the Orlando Predators in 2016. They also signed wide receiver Joe Hills, who spent the last few seasons with the Jacksonville Sharks. With these two, among other targets on the team, the Storm have been a force to be reckoned with.

However, that has not been the case when it came to playing the Soul this season. The Storm have not found a way to defeat the Soul, going 0-3 in the regular season against the defending champs. No matter the powerhouse offense the Storm have had, the Soul defense has been able to contain them.

The closest matchup between these two teams came in their only meeting in Tampa back in Week 2. Even in that game, Philadelphia’s defense was able to contain the surging Storm en route to a win.

In their last two meetings, Philadelphia won both by an average of 17 points per game. While Tampa Bay may be able to make it a game, the Soul will pull away at some point on their way to winning ArenaBowl XXX.
