The Baltimore Brigade announced that quarterback Shane Carden will be placed on injured reserve following Saturday’s 63-21 loss to the Philadelphia Soul.
Carden, who will more than likely have the Arena Football League Rookie of the Year award wrapped up, was injured during the team’s loss to the soul on Saturday as he suffered a concussion. This is a big blow for the team as they prepare for the upcoming postseason.
To replace Carden, Baltimore was assigned quarterback JJ Raterink. Raterink hasn’t played since starting for the Guangzhou Power in the China Arena Football League.
Before playing overseas, Raterink was a quarterback for several teams in the AFL. He started for the Iowa Barnstormers, Las Vegas Outlaws and Los Angeles KISS
The Brigade close out the season Friday at home against the Washington Valor. With a win, they will clinch the third seed and face the Tampa Bay Storm in the second playoff game on Monday, Aug. 14. Should the Valor win, Baltimore will fall to the fourth seed and play the defending champion Soul in the first playoff game Saturday, Aug. 12.
