5. Washington Valor
The Valor have lost nine games in a row. Things got worse when news broke that quarterback Erik Meyer retired. He had been on injured reserve the last six weeks. Had he returned, he possibly could have led the Valor on a win streak long enough to get them back in the playoff race.
With Meyer gone, the Valor’s playoff chances are looking more and more bleak. There’s still time to catch up, but time is running out very fast.
4. Cleveland Gladiators
Cleveland pulled off a big upset of the Storm, but due to the Brigade pulling off their upset, the Gladiators remain in fourth place in the AFL playoff race. It doesn’t help their case that they will have off next week while Baltimore will play a game against Tampa Bay.
3. Baltimore Brigade
The expansion franchise is playing very good football and continue to impress week in and week out. Quarterback Shane Carden has been a godsend to them, as he has all but clinched the Rookie of the Year award for himself. Not only that, but if they can pull off a victory against the next team on our list next week, they’ll be just a game or two away from clinching the third seed.
2. Tampa Bay Storm
Tampa Bay is still the second best team in the league. They have dominated almost all of their opponents and just got wide receiver Joe Hills back from league suspension.
The only thing they have not been able to do thus far is beat the top team on our list.
1. Philadelphia Soul
Even though the Soul suffered their first loss against the Brigade, the Soul have shown that they belong on the top of our list. Despite the offensive struggles continuing, the defending champions are looking like they will cruise through the remaining month and a half and win their second consecutive ArenaBowl title.
