The Philadelphia Soul currently sit at a 10-0 record. They are just four wins away from completing the first perfect regular season in Arena Football League history. Can they do it?
Their next game will be against the Baltimore Brigade next weekend. They will face off against the Baltimore Brigade at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore. Quarterback Shane Carden is the front runner of the AFL Rookie of the Year award. He could prove to be a challenge against Philadelphia’s defense.
Philadelphia has been able to best Baltimore in their two meetings this season, but Baltimore has played them close. They could possibly down the Soul.
They’ll then host the Washington Valor on July 15. This is most likely the first game that Valor quarterback Erik Meyer will return to the team after being on IR the last six weeks. His return could be key to Washington the rest of the way, starting in Philadelphia.
They’ll play Baltimore once more before finishing their season against the Tampa Bay Storm. That game, depending on how both Philadelphia and Tampa play the rest of the way, could have serious playoff implications come Aug. 5.
The Soul have shown much struggle this season, especially offensively. Quarterback Dan Raudabaugh has thrown many bad passes that were ether overthrown or picked. The offense has also turned the ball over on downs many times.
Despite all this, the Soul have owned all of their opponents, even the Storm, who were thought to be their only competition.
Not only are the Soul looking to complete the first perfect season in AFL history. They’re also looking to become the first repeat champion since the Arizona Rattlers won three ArenaBowls in a row from 2012-14. ArenaBowl XXX is scheduled to be played Aug. 26. The Soul have already clinched a home playoff spot.
