The Washington Valor lost to the Tampa Bay Storm on Saturday night. The loss is their ninth in a row. They have not won since the first game of the season back on April 7. What is the possibility that they don’t win another game all season long?
They only play four more games this season. Two of those games are against their interstate rival in the Baltimore Brigade (July 22, Aug. 5). The other games are against the Philadelphia Soul (July 15) and the Cleveland Gladiators (July 29).
The Valor will also be getting their team back. Quarterback Erik Meyer will be eligible to be activated off of injured reserve on July 8, the Valor’s final bye week. Wide receiver Mike Washington is also expected to return to the team around the same time.
Can Washington turn it around and win a game? The last time Meyer faced Philadelphia, they were outscored 49-17 after holding a 14-0 lead. When he faced off against Cleveland the following week, they were shut out in the fourth quarter of their second loss in a row.
This also means that not only Meyer didn’t play well, but Toliver, Washington and the entire offense was also shut down in those games.
When it comes to Baltimore, he was able to torch their defense for 34 points in the first half. In the second half, however, they were outscored.
Still, that was early in the season. All five teams have improved in their own ways since then. The Valor specially have had a streak of bad luck, losing by just one point twice in a three week span. It will be interesting to see how they play when Meyer, Washington and Toliver return to the lineup in a couple weeks.
