National Arena League to Hold Media Day, Awards Banquet July 9

The National Arena League has announced that it will hold its inaugural media session and award ceremony banquet on Sunday, July 9 at 2 p.m. ET. The event will take place at the Union Times Center in downtown Jacksonville.

Media day will have both Columbus Lions head coach Jason Gibson and Jacksonville Sharks head coach Siaha Burley, as well as players from both teams, talking to the media ahead of their meeting in the NAL title game on July 10. The event will be open to the public.

The banquet will be held following media day, at 6 p.m. ET, at the Union Times Center. Unlike media day, the event will be an invite-only event. At the banquet, the following awards will be handed out:

– Best Franchise
– Executive of the Year
– Coach of the Year
– League MVP
– Offensive Player of the Year
– Defensive Player of the Year
– Special Teams Player of the Year
– Offensive of Rookie of the Year
– Defensive of Rookie of the Year
– Most Improved Player
– Referee of the Year
– Best Fans
– Best Dance Team
– Best Mascot
– Best Game Experience
– Best Medical Staff
– Best Community Relations
– Best Media Relations
– Best Website

The Sharks and Lions will face off in the first ever National Arena League title on Monday night, July 10. Jacksonville finished the season with just one loss in the final game of the regular season to the Monterrey Steel.

Columbus ended the regular season on a seven game win streak, then overcame a 22-point deficit to defeat the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks in the semifinals.
