The Columbus Lions seem to finally be hitting their stride after another dominating victory on Saturday. The Lions got off to a slow start, but they’ve picked it up ever since they last lost to the Jacksonville Sharks.
The Lions have won every single game since that April 29 game when they lost to Jacksonville. Last night, the Lions dominated the Corpus Christi Rage by a score of 81-12.
The Lions got off to a slow start, as they turned the ball over on downs. However, the defense was there to pick up the offense. Chris Pickett intercepted a pass and brought it all the way to the house for a pick six. The extra point was missed, meaning the Lions lead 6-0.
The Rage would respond with a touchdown to make it 6-6. Mason Espinosa would have two rushing touchdowns in the second quarter, and the Lions would eventually lead the Rage 19-12. After a pick six and another touchdown, the Lions blew the game open, leading 32-12 at halftime.
Mike Reeve caught two touchdowns to open the second half, and the Lions lead 46-12. By the beginning of the fourth quarter, Columbus lead 67-12 after two pick sixes by Joe Stephenson and Kyle Griswould. The Lions would add on two more touchdowns to win 81-12.
The Lions (7-3) played their home finale, as they will play their final two games on the road. They take on the Monterrey Steel next week before finishing the season against the Georgia Firebirds.
