The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks hosted the Corpus Christi Rage on Saturday evening. Lehigh Valley was looking to gain ground with the Jacksonville Sharks.
The Rage scored first when Jake Jablonksi threw a touchdown to Alex Coleman. The extra point was no good, so they held a 6-0 lead. Lehigh Valley would take the lead with a touchdown pass from Warren Smith, Jr to Bret Piekarski.
After a turnover on downs, Lehigh Valley would make it a 13-6 game when Smith threw a touchdown to Warren Oliver. A deuce on the ensuing kickoff would make it 15-6. A Darius Prince touchdown made the score 25-6. The rout was on from there.
After Rodney Hall returned a missed field goal for a touchdown, they had a 46-12 lead. Lehigh Valley recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown to make the halftime score 53-12.
The Steelhawks weren’t done there yet, either. Corpus Christi would put up more of a fight in the third quarter, but Lehigh Valley would not back down, either. Back and forth they went for the third.
Lehigh Valley went on to be just too much for Corpus Christi. They would set a team record in points scored in one game as they won by a final score of 95-28. The Steelhawks will host the Dayton Wolfpack next week. Corpus Christi will take on the Jacksonville Sharks.
