8. Corpus Christi Rage
Despite not playing in a couple weeks, Corpus Christi still ranks at the bottom of their list. They have not been able to play at the level of the top dogs. Now owned by the league, the Rage will play their first game in three weeks this Saturday night when they play the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks.
7. Dayton/Atlanta Wolfpack
Since they don’t play an entire 18-game season like most of the teams in this league, not much can be said about the Wolfpack. They looked like an impressive team when they began their first game against the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. After that, however, things have not looked so well.
6. Georgia Firebirds
Georgia plays good football. They have just played a really rough schedule. They started their season against the High Country Grizzlies. They went on to play the Jacksonville Sharks, Columbus Lions and Lehigh Valley Steelhawks in three of their next four games.
They played a good game against their in-state rival in Columbus. They overcame a 12-point deficit to take the lead at one point. At the end, however, it was too little too late.
In their other games, they were overpowered by some of the best teams in the league.
5. Monterrey Steel
Last night showed a lot about the Steel. They are not the powerful team that they have shown. Before their matchup against the Sharks, Monterrey had played just three games. Two of those games had been against the Rage.
Many overhyped the Steel due to their record. After Monday’s game, they showed that they are just overrated. Still, they could looking at a playoff spot in a few months.
4. Columbus Lions
Columbus has played better and better football as the season has gone on. They are looking like the team that won two consecutive titles in 2015 and 2016. Quarterback Darren Daniel leads the league in both passing yards and passing touchdowns.
If they keep it up, they can see themselves in a playoff game.
3. High Country Grizzlies
Led by quarterback Stephen Panasuk, the Grizzlies are a very good team. They play good football haven’t lost a step. High Country is full of talent and all that talent looks as if it will lead them to the postseason.
2. Lehigh Valley Steelhawks
Lehigh Valley has an amazing team. The offense is stacked with quarterback Warren Smith, Jr and his weapons in Warren Oliver and Darius Prince. Eddie Davis III is also the centerpiece of the Steelhawks. He leads the team in interceptions.
1. Jacksonville Sharks
It’s over. There is officially no more competition for the Sharks. They have beaten all the best teams handily. The only team that can beat them is themselves. They’re going to finish 14-0 and win the inaugural NAL title.
