In the lone National Arena League game of the night, the Columbus Lions and High Country Grizzlies squared off in Columbus, GA on Saturday night.
High Country scored the first two points with a deuce on the opening kickoff. Columbus took a 6-2 lead with a touchdown pass from Darren Daniel to Jarmon Fortson.
Grizzlies quarterback Stephen Panasuk threw a touchdown pass to give High Country the lead right back. A second deuce extended their lead to 10-6.
Columbus would score two touchdowns, one following an interception, to go up 20-10 in the blink of an eye. High Country answered back with a touchdown, an interception, and they led 25-20.
The Lions would score to re-take the lead when Daniel rushed for a touchdown. After another interception followed by a touchdown, Columbus led 37-25 at the half.
Despite a back and forth second half, Columbus never held up. They would go on to win by a final score of 57-44. They will travel to take on the Jacksonville Sharks next week. High Country will host the Georgia Firebirds on May 7.
