The Georgia Firebirds will be entering the National Arena League after playing in the American Indoor Football (AIF) in 2016. Prior to that, the Firebirds played outdoor football after being founded in 2009.
They are the third team to be coming into the NAL after playing in the AIF. The Columbus Lions and Lehigh Valley Steelhawks are also coming from the league that folded after one year. They finished 3-5 and didn’t make the playoffs.
The Firebirds open their season on March 18 against the High Country Grizzlies. Georgia will be looking to compete for the NAL title after missing out on the playoffs in 2016.
