The Washington Valor have added to their already lethal receiving core, while also adding depth up front. Washington signed veteran wide receiver Mike Washington, along with four offensive linemen.
Washington has played in the Arena Football League for seven years. He’s been a member of the Pittsburgh Power, Arizona Rattlers and Tampa Bay Storm. For his career, he has caught 560 passes for 6,908 yards and 141 touchdowns.
“Mike has had an outstanding career in the AFL, he is a very explosive receiver and kick returner who can impact a game at any point,” said coach Dean Cokinos. “We are very excited to have Mike join our organization. He is a first class individual who will represent the Valor well.”
Washington joins a stacked wide receiving core that includes T.T Toliver and Greg Carr. Washington also signed offensive linemen DJ Brandel, Jarien Moreland, Kamalie Matthews, and Derrick Okafor. Moreland and Brandel are the only lineman that have AFL experience.
“With Brandel, Matthews, Moreland and Okafor we get a good blend of veteran and rookie big men which is essential to our growth as a team up front,” Cokinos said. “All four are versatile and talented players that will strengthen our overall roster.” Washington will open its inaugural season in the AFL against the Baltimore Brigade on April 7.
