Star receiver Reggie Gray has announced that he is signing with the Baltimore Brigade. He has not played in the Arena Football League since 2015, when he played with the San Jose Sabercats. The Sabercats folded after winning ArenaBowl XXVIII in 2015 over the Jacksonville Sharks.
In 2016, Gray played with the Jacksonville Sharks. In October, he was a big part of the Qingdao Clipper team during the inaugural China Arena Football League season.
He recorded 35 passes for 597 yards and 11 touchdowns. The 597 yards was the best in the league. 11 touchdowns was good enough for third behind Shaun Kauleinamoku and Mike Washington.
The Brigade are the fifth team to join the AFL for the 2017 season, the 30th in league history. Gray is the team’s biggest signing in their young franchise.
Baltimore will open the 2017 season against the Washington Valor at the Verizon Center on April 7. This could wind up being a battle of two great receivers. Washington signed hall of fame wide receiver T.T. Toliver earlier this offseason.
