The Qingdao Clipper and Beijing Lions squared off in a battle of the undefeated on Sunday. This was the final game of the China Arena Football League Super Series III.
The Lions struck first when quarterback Luke Collis found Collin Taylor in the end zone for a touchdown. Both teams would fumble on their next drives – Qingdao on the ensuing kickoff and Beijing on the very next play.
Qingdao failed to covert a fourth down and Beijing took over. They would convert with a touchdown from Collis to James Romain. The Lions led 14-0 after one.
The Clipper cut the deficit in half when quarterback Bryan Randall found another former Virginia Tech player in Xavier Boyce for a touchdown. Beijing struck back with another touchdown pass from Collis to Romain.
On the next Qingdao drive, a deep pass from Randall intended for Reggie Gray was intercepted by Torez Jones at the two yard line. The Lions would convert on the first play with a deep touchdown to Taylor to make the lead 28-7.
Qingdao turned the ball over after a completion on a 4th and 12 and Beijing recovered the fumble. They would capitalize with a touchdown pass from Chris Dieker to Taylor. Beijing led 35-13 at the half.
Qingdao would make a furious second half comeback, but it wasn’t enough. The Lions went on to win the game by a final score of 47-33. They are now the only undefeated team left in the CAFL.
