wThe Philadelphia Soul hosted the Arizona Rattlers at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Saturday night. Both teams were looking to go 6-1 on the season.
The Soul scored first when Dan Raudabaugh found Darius Reynolds for a touchdown. On the Rattlers next drive, they fumbled the ball and the Soul recovered. They took advantage of the touchdown and scored another touchdown when Raudabaugh found Shaun Kauleinamoku to give the Soul a 14-0 lead.
The Soul opened up a lead as big as 31-14 in the first half, but the Rattlers came roaring back.
With 5:35 left in the third quarter, the Soul’s lead was just 38-35. But after a Rattlers onside kick was returned for a Soul touchdown and the Rattlers fumbled the ensuing kickoff, which the Soul recovered, the Soul opened a 51-35 lead at the end of the third quarter.
The Rattlers would score to begin the fourth quarter when Nick Davila, who passed 30,000 career passing in this game, found Maurice Purify for a three-yard touchdown. They would convert a two-point conversion to make it a 51-43 game.
The teams would exchange touchdowns throughout the quarter, but a Rattlers onside kick was knocked out of bounds, giving the Soul the ball and a 65-58 victory. The win is the Soul’s first ever win over the Rattlers. The Soul will host the undefeated Orlando Predators next Saturday while the Rattlers head back home to play the Los Angeles KISS.
