For the fifth time in the last six years, the Arizona Rattlers are going to the ArenaBowl.
The Rattlers clinched their 10th trip to indoor football’s biggest game with an 82-41 win over the Cleveland Gladiators on Saturday night, thus earning redemption for their heartbreaking ending in this same position last season.
It was almost a repeat of two recent Arizona-Cleveland games: their week 17 meeting in Phoenix, and Arena Bowl XXVII in Cleveland, both Rattler routs.
Although this one started out close, the Rattlers quickly took control. It all turned when Jeremy Kellem picked off Arvell Nelson and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown to break the flood gates.
The game was so out of reach moments into the third, that Nick Davila was pulled to get ready for the Arena Bowl.
The Rattlers await the winner of the American Conference title game between Philadelphia Soul and Jacksonville Sharks tonight. The winner travels to Glendale for ArenaBowl XXIX on Aug. 26.
