The Philadelphia Soul snatch the hopes and dreams from the Orlando Predators in the final game of the Arena Football League regular season.
In front of 13,827 fans in Orlando’s Amway Center, Philadelphia defeated Orlando 67-59 in the final game of the regular season.
With the win, the Soul (13-3) take command of the American Conference and will have home-field advantage through the playoffs. Philadelphia will host the Tampa Bay Storm next week to start the postseason.
Philadelphia’s leader and possible AFL MVP Dan Raudabaugh threw for 335 passing yards with 10 total touchdowns. Playmaker Chris Duvalt added 155 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
The Predators (12-4) could not keep up early season momentum to finish on top of the conference. Loosing for the second straight week, and falling to the second playoff seed. Orlando will host the Jacksonville Sharks in the opening round of the playoffs.
Leading the way for Orlando was quarterback Bernard Morris with six passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. Wideout Larry Brackins added 114 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Both Orlando and Philadelphia can meet again in the conference semifinal if they both win their opening playoff matches.
