On Tuesday, the Arena Football League announced that Jacksonville Sharks‘ fullback Derrick Ross won the Under Armour Offensive Player of the Week award for Week 17.
In the team’s win over the LA KISS, Ross had one of his better performances of the season, carrying the ball 14 times for 64 yards and three touchdowns. In another season for the record books, Ross leads the league in carries (102), rushing yards (389), and touchdowns (20).
In a double-dip of good news, Superman himself adds to the MVP résumé. Joe Hills won the Cutters Catch of the Week award. In the second quarter, Hills leaped up to make a four-yard touchdown catch and landed over the back end zone wall for the touchdown. The catch was part of his 69-yard, three-score night against Los Angeles.
Hills needs just 72 yards against the Tampa Bay Storm to register 2,000 for the season, and his 54 scores are seven shy of the single-season record set by Damian Harrell in 2006.
