The Tampa Bay Storm are statistically the worst team in the AFL, scoring less points per game than the Portland Steel, who are also at 1-11. But they do have a better team than not just the Steel, but also possibly the Jacksonville Sharks, Los Angeles KISS and even the Cleveland Gladiators.
Quarterback Jason Boltus took over for Adam Kennedy only a couple weeks into the season. Boltus has thrown for 2,152 yards and 34 touchdowns since he has taken over. He has also thrown for 14 interceptions, but he has kept the Storm in games to the end, even though they have wound up losing all but one game against the Arizona Rattlers, which they won with a touchdown with no time left.
They also have the all-time leading receiver in T.T. Toliver. He became the AFL’s all-time leader in receiving yards earlier in the season. He has caught 83 passes for 1,188 yards and 17 touchdowns.
The problem with the Storm is they have not found ways to finish games. They start strong, but never finish strong. If they can learn to finish strong come playoff time, we can possibly see them pull off a huge upset.
