Artist Biz Markie will sing postgame of the Tampa Bay Storm‘s Fan Appreciation Night on July 23 when the Storm play the Portland Steel. The concert will be available to all fans that buy a ticket for the game. The concert itself will be held at the Amelie Motor Oil Field.
Markie released his debut album, Goin’ Off in 1988.
He released his second album, The Biz Never Sleeps, in 1989. The album included the song that made him famous, “Just a Friend.” This song has been made into a parody on a Tune Up commercial featuring Markie as Captain Tune Up himself.
“Just a Friend” became certified platinum in 1990. The song also got all the way up to #9 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was also named one of the 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs of All-Time by VH1.
This is the second meeting between the two worst teams in the AFL. The Steel dominated the Storm, 68-35, back on June 3 when these two teams met at the Moda Center in Portland, OR.
