Today, the Jacksonville Sharks announced they were assigned defensive lineman Keith Bowers. As per usual team policy, the terms of the contract were not released.
Bowers (6’2″, 285 lbs), a West Palm Beach, Florida native, enters his rookie year in the Arena Football League after a four-year college career at the University of Maryland. He started his tenure as a terrapin as the first true freshman to start along the defensive line since 2005, and finished that season as an honorable mention freshman All-American.
Bouncing back from an injury-filled sophomore year, Bowers started nine games in his junior season, where he registered a career-high nine tackles in one game. He started another nine his senior season, while appearing in all twelve games.
Before signing with and attending UM, Bowers led his William T. Dwyer High School team to consecutive Florida Class 4A State Championships in 2009 and 2010, on top of registering 15 sacks his senior year before graduating.
